District Attorney Reveals Disturbing Details in Conservative Activist Shooting

Called “an American tragedy,” prosecutors presented a disturbing narrative of the alleged murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

An Orchestrated Assault

Per prosecutors, Tyler Robinson had become overwhelmed with hatred for Kirk and his ideology. Authorities claim Robinson premeditated the attack in a little more than a week after learning Kirk would be speaking at Utah Valley University.

Digital Communications Uncover Admission

Prosecutors say Robinson dispatched his housemate messages confessing to the murder. In one exchange, Robinson allegedly stated, “I had the chance to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”

“Delete this exchange,” Robinson allegedly wrote in a later message.

Murder Weapon Information

Investigators say a firearm owned by Robinson’s grandparent was employed in the shooting. The gun was subsequently found in a nearby field wrapped in a towel.

Multiple bullets were recovered with the rifle, every one engraved with inflammatory phrases.

Political Reasons

According to testimony from Robinson’s mother, the suspect had recently become more political and begun tilting toward progressive views, supporting LGBTQ+ rights.

Robinson had also begun dating his housemate, a man who was undergoing a gender transition, which allegedly led to tension within his family.

Arrest and Charges

Robinson was arrested on September 12 and accused with first-degree murder. The district attorney stated they will pursue the capital punishment.

Law enforcement say Robinson’s own mother identified him from news photos of the shooter and notified authorities.

Legal Hearings

The suspect made an initial hearing on Tuesday, with a waiver hearing set for September 29.

The state emphasized that the information presented are only accusations at this stage and acknowledged the pain of Kirk’s loved ones.

“As with any homicide, the needless ending of Charlie Kirk’s life has shattered the lives of those he cherished,” said the prosecutor.
