Ex- Federal Bureau of Investigation head James the former director has denied the charges to giving untrue testimony to congressional representatives and hindering a lawmaking procedure.

His lawyer submitted the response on his behalf in a national courtroom in the Virginia city of Alexandria on Wednesday.

His attorney stated he would seek to have the case terminated for multiple reasons including that his client, a critic of Donald Trump, was being targeted.

Mr Comey was formally accused soon after Trump pushed his attorney general to proceed against him.

Judicial Process

At the proceedings on Wednesday, his attorney Mr Fitzgerald told the magistrate they planned to file several legal requests to dismiss the proceedings before a legal hearing, arguing the legal action was spiteful and that a US attorney was improperly designated to assume control of the proceedings.

The former director's case was originally managed by a Virginia prosecutor, who stepped down under pressure from Trump after his examination into an additional rival - the New York official - was unable to bring criminal charges.

Courtroom Atmosphere

The former director appeared in optimistic frame of mind as he entered the legal venue on Wednesday, conversing with his legal team and sharing humor. He was joined by his partner, Mrs Failor and child Maureen, a government attorney who the former government dismissed.

The former director was the chief of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from four years and was dismissed about a few months into the former president's first term as president. Via social media James Comey shared to his online platform after he was indicted, he declared he was wrongly accused and alleged the former president of conducting himself like a "autocrat".

"Our household have been aware for years that there are costs to opposing Donald Trump," he said. "We will not live on our knees."

"I have done nothing wrong," he continued. "So let's have a trial."

The accusations against James Comey emerged after the former president published on digital channels demanding his chief prosecutor, Pam Bondi, take legal action against Mr Comey and additional individuals.
